Dental Burs

Cavity is a dental issue that most of us are facing. It is the number one reason why there are people who wears false teeth. Not enough proper care in your dentals could cause you of having cavities which later on if not taken care of would result to teeth lose.

In dentistry, dental burs are use in drilling or cutting the tooth infected with cavity. In using dental burs, a drilling hand piece called a dental drill must be use as well. Burs are commonly made of diamond and tungsten carbide. Burs have three parts, the head, neck and shank.

Dental burs head is where the blade is. The blade can be position in different degree of angles for different purpose of use. Obtuse angles will increase the bur longevity and strength while acute angles will result in a much sharper blade tough it dulls quickly. Dental burs have different shapes for various situations; straight fissure, inverted cone, tapered fissure, round and pear shaped are burs shapes.

Since dental burs are for hygienic use, it is not advisable to buy used ones. There have been studies that autoclaving along dental burs does not guarantee decontamination. Pre-sterilization with the use of washer disinfectors is the best way to decontaminate dental burs. It is best to buy brand new burs for a hygienic purpose.
